OUDino: Synbion Innovation Empowering Global Agarwood Industry

Synbion Sdn. Bhd., a spin-off company of Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) under UMPSA Technology Sdn. Bhd., together with UMPSA Holdings Sdn. Bhd., recently welcomed Mr. Norbert Grimm, President and CEO of Dasos-One Plantations Inc., Germany, for a collaborative meeting and site visit at UM Plantations, Kota Tinggi, Johor. The engagement was also attended by the COO of UM Plantations, En. Hairul Anuar.

The session aimed to strengthen international collaboration in the field of agarwood biotechnology, focusing on the application of Synbion’s innovative product, OUDino. During the visit, the Synbion team demonstrated the inoculation process of OUDino on agarwood trees, showcasing its effectiveness in enhancing chipwood and resin quality as well as overall yield.

As a key outcome of this collaboration, Synbion successfully secured a two-year contract to supply 500 litres of OUDino to UM Plantations — marking a significant milestone that strengthens its position within the agarwood biotechnology sector.

This collaboration not only reinforces Synbion’s commitment to advancing biotechnology innovation but also reflects the growing international confidence in UMPSA’s research-driven solutions for sustainable and high-value plantation development. It further opens new opportunities for OUDino to expand into broader international markets, positioning Malaysia as a hub for cutting-edge biotechnology applications.
