UMPSA Holdings in Shaping Responsible AI Adoption Across University Holdings

UMPSA Holdings has participated in a prominent discussion with a theme of “Empowering Malaysian University Holdings for Responsible AI Adoption” held at UTM Hotel and Residence, Kuala Lumpur organized by the Ministry of Higher Education.

Represented by our Managing Director and Group Chief Executive Officer, Ts. Mohd Fadzil Mohd Idris, the session brought together university holdings across Malaysia to exchange ideas, share perspectives, and explore how AI can be adopted responsibly within the higher education ecosystem.

The discussion was guided by four key pillars, starting with skills and capability, focusing on building the right talent and internal readiness to manage AI effectively. This was followed by data governance, stressing the need for clear structures in handling and protecting data. There was also strong emphasis on ethics and societal trust, ensuring AI is used responsibly and remains aligned with public interest, as well as legal and compliance, highlighting the importance of staying within regulatory frameworks as adoption grows.

From governance to real-world implementation, the discussion highlighted the importance of balancing innovation with accountability, ensuring AI is not only powerful, but also ethical and sustainable.
