UMPSA Holdings Strengthens Academic and Drone Technology Collaboration in China

UMPSA Holdings, led by the Managing Director and Group Chief Executive Officer, Ts. Mohd Fadzil Mohd Idris, together with representatives from UMPSA which includes Prof. Dr. Rizalman Bin Mamat, Senior Director of Center for Advanced Mobility & Aerospace, conducted a series of official engagements in Guangzhou and Foshan, China, aimed at strengthening international collaboration in emerging engineering, aviation and low-altitude airspace technologies.

The delegation began with an official visit to Guangzhou Maritime University, where discussions focused on advancing academic cooperation in low-altitude technology and intelligent control systems. The university’s leadership and academic team shared insights into their programmes and research capabilities, paving the way for potential initiatives such as structured student exchange programmes, dual-degree pathways, and reciprocal lecturer exchange to support joint curriculum development and cross-border knowledge sharing.

The mission continued with an in-depth technical engagement within the Albatross Tech ecosystem. At the Yufeng Zhihang UAV Base, the delegation observed drone testing, pilot training and real-world UAV operations integrated within a single ecosystem. This was followed by a visit to the Beijing Jiajieyuan (GEOAI) UAV Command and Manufacturing Facility in Foshan, featuring a 24/7 provincial drone command centre equipped with real-time monitoring, automated drone rotation and weather-protected systems.

During the visit, UMPSA Holdings and Albatross Tech completed the exchange of the signed MoU, reaffirming mutual commitment to collaboration. Both parties also agreed to proceed towards a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) as the next step in supporting Malaysia’s low-altitude airspace technology ecosystem.

This series of engagements marks a meaningful step forward in expanding UMPSA Holdings and UMPSA’s international network, while reinforcing strategic partnerships across academia and industry in China.
