UMPSA Holdings, represented by Mr. Sa’udin Sulong, Head of Strategic Business Development, and Mr. Muhammad Hafizuddin Azmi, Design Architect, recently conducted the first technical business visit to Rex Corporation’s modular construction factory in Foshan, China. The trip was led by the Group Chief Executive Officer of UMT Holdings, YBhg. Dato’ Dr. Ahmad Ramzi Mohamad Zubir, who had previously visited the same facility. Both UMT Holdings and UMPSA Holdings share the same objective which is to explore modular construction solutions for future hostel developments.

Upon arrival, the delegation was welcomed by Mr. Rex, Chief Executive Officer of Rex Corporation and his share partner, Mr. Jiang who hosted and briefed the teams throughout the visit. The technical tour covered the full end-to-end manufacturing workflow, including steel fabrication, wall panel assembly, M&E installation, interior finishing, and quality control processes. Rex Corporation also showcased their interlocking structural system, provided references of completed modular projects including those previously delivered to Malaysia and presented key maintenance and lifecycle considerations for long-term asset performance.
Initial observations indicate strong potential in terms of production capability, cost competitiveness, and faster delivery timelines, making modular construction a viable solution for large-scale developments such as UMPSA Holdings’ proposed student hostel project. Both organisations will proceed with detailed assessments covering UBBL structural compliance, BOMBA requirements, M&E certifications, and verification of completed Rex Corporation projects currently operating in Malaysia.
This visit reinforces UMPSA Holdings’ commitment to exploring modern, efficient, and high-quality construction technologies that enhance value and strengthen future development outcomes.
